When we control or repress our emotional and instinctual life in order to become more spiritually correct, it does not simply dissipate and disappear. It remains held in the unconscious and buried in the body, stored in every cell (…). The body becomes a shadowy manifestation of the unconscious that erupts in symptoms that reflect our emotional imbalance. Appreciating the significance of this makes it necessary to listen to our own body as a profound source of insight.
